Award of The Distinguished Conduct Medal
This Warrant Officer of The Queen's Own Rifles of Canada landed with the assault companies on D-Day and has taken
a leading part in all engagements in which this battalion has been committed since that date. He has been subjected
to the heaviest shell, mortar and machine gun fire on many occasions, and at all time his coolness under fire and
in actual contact with the enemy has been a source of help and encouragement to the men under his command. He has
personally accounted for many enemy casualties, both dead and prisoners. His utter disregard for personal safety
has upon many occasions been the means of saving lives of many of his men, while his leadership ability has been the
means for the success of many actions undertaken by "A" Company during the past five months.
