The Executive Committee meets monthly and the Branch Annual General Meeting is usually scheduled to coincide with the Branch’s Regimental Birthday celebrations in April.

MEMBERSHIP

Ordinary Membership is open to all former members of the Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada who have retired in good standing or have been honourably discharged. Associate membership is open to family members of former members of the regiment. Application for membership may be made through any member of the Executive Committee.

Branch dues are $15.00 per year for Ordinary and Associate members, payable to the Treasurer by the date of our annual Regimental Birthday celebrations (in late April). You may also pay your annual National Association dues ($7.50) to our branch treasurer who will forward them to the National Association.

MONTHLY LUNCHEON

Our Branch holds a luncheon at #264 (Kensington) Legion on the first Wednesday of each month except July (this year we have scheduled a special luncheon on 18 Jul - see schedule below), August and December when we hold our annual Christmas Luncheon (generally on a Saturday in mid-December). We meet for drinks and conversation at 1130 hrs and those who are partaking of lunch move into the dining area at about 1230 hrs. If you intend to sit down for lunch, please advise George Carsted by phone (403-257-0425) or e-mail (gruenrock@shaw.ca) by noon on the Monday preceding the luncheon.

150th Anniversary Celebrations - April 2010

150th Anniversary Celebrations - Calgary Branch Events

Wednesday, 21 April

On the evening of Wednesday 21 April, there will be an informal reception for all Association members at 264 Legion, 1910 Kensington Rd NW, Calgary - 1900 hrs. to 2100 hrs. This will be an opportunity to renew acquaintances with old friends prior to the formal activities on Wednesday. Dress casual.

Thursday, 22 April

At 1400 hrs, at The Military Museum, 4520 Crowchild Tr. SW, Calgary, our Colonel-in-Chief, HRH Princess Alexandra, will dedicate a memorial commemorating the service of the 1st and 2nd Battalions and the Regimental Depot at the Regimental Home Station, Currie Barracks, during the years from 1954 to 1968. The ceremony will be followed by a reception in the Museum Atrium. All Association members are encouraged to attend. Dress: Regimental Blazer or Business suit and medals.

In the evening, HRH will be the guest of honour at a formal dinner in the Naval Gallery of the Military Museum, 4520 Crowchild Tr. SW, Calgary. 1730hrs for 1830 hrs. All Association members are invited to attend. Dress: Regimental Blazer or Business suit and medals.
